The spread of disinformation in the lead up to the 2020 election puts our democracy at risk. After yesterdays hack, @Twitter and other social media companies must step up their games, secure their platforms, and remove all false and inauthentic content.
Moscow’s continued malicious actions to weaken our pandemic response must not go unchecked. In the coming days, I will be introducing legislation to ensure these Russian hackers are held accountable.

While its still not clear if the hackers gained access to Twitter DMs, this is a vulnerability that has lasted for far too long and isn’t present in other competing platforms. If hackers gained access to users’ DMs, this breach could have a breathtaking impact for years to come.
China is exploiting the coronavirus crisis it created. With over 60 bipartisan cosponsors, the HACT Act is building momentum as the most viable means of addressing the epidemic of foreign-sponsored hacking of Americans.
