Its time. These statues are not just reminders of a painful past, but symbols of a painful present and even harbingers of a difficult future. The Governors action answers a question: Why glorify those who fought to keep people in bondage because of the color of their skin?
The left is tearing down statues of Christopher Columbus, getting Paw Patrol and Live PD canceled, and pushing to defund the police. This is not progressit’s mob rule and madness.

There are 11 Confederate statues in the United States Capitol that reflect those who fought to keep African Americans enslaved. This is not something we ought to honor in America, and I have called on them to be removed.
Strong show of force from @realDonaldTrump outside the Lincoln emancipation statue being targeted by the rioters. POTUS has made it clear: try to damage that statue, and you’re going to prison! Wish more Mayors and Governors had the same backbone!

This country deserves better than a President who fights harder for statues of dead Confederates than living US soldiers, condemns peaceful protesters but not white supremacists, hates journalists but not dictators who murder them, and can’t put on a mask to save American lives.
Col. Heg is a local hero in Southeast Wisconsin. He fought for the Union and died fighting to end slavery. Recently, his statue was destroyed by criminals in Madison. My bill would name the Muskego Post Office in his honor.

The statues which fill the halls of Congress should reflect our highest ideals as Americans. Today, I am once again calling for the removal from the U.S. Capitol of the 11 statues representing Confederate soldiers and officials. These statues pay homage to hate, not heritage.
Ignorance is dangerous. I introduced a bill to name the Muskego Post Office after Col. Hans Christian Hegan immigrant, abolitionist military leader who gave his life fighting to end slavery. His statue was recently torn down by rioters in Madison.
