Dr. Anthony Fauci has stated that the antiviral drug, remdesivir, showed promising results, and the FDA now plans to authorize its emergency use. Remdesivir works by inhibiting a specific enzyme from replicating the virus. Fauci says that further tests will reveal how well remdesivir will work in combination with an anti-inflammatory drug.
Data implied we had reached the peak of daily new cases weeks ago, but April 24th saw a new record in daily new cases. However, since April 24th, the new case rate has decreased, and April 27th saw an all time low in daily new cases. While it still seems like we are still weathering the plateau of the peak, more volatility and uncertainty should be expected in the form of spikes.
