Democratic Primary Candidate, Andrew Yang has just dropped out of the race. He brought a unique platform to the primaries, being an Asian entrepreneur from Silicon Valley. Championing himself as the “math guy” and with the backing of his loyal and young supporters, the #Yanggang, he captured headlines and made his presence known on the debate stage. Most importantly, he brought a different kind of politics to the scene. His promotion of universal basic income made Americans contemplate a possible source of financial relief. His constant warnings about the approaching problem of automation showed his concern for the employment outlooks for many Americans, including truck drivers.
Even though he had to concede defeat due to a lack of popularity and traction, he symbolizes how far Asian Americans have come in America. Not only did he garner the respect of immigrant communities, but he showed that Asians are qualified to unite and lead America.
