Alaskan Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski gave a speech yesterday that highlighted her verdict to acquit Trump. Despite disliking the president’s behavior, she did not seem convinced of the House Democrats argument to impeach Trump. On critiquing the Democrat’s strategy, she stated, “The House rushed through what should have been one of the most serious, consequential undertakings of the legislative branch, simply to meet an artificial, self-imposed deadline.”

In criticism of Trump she quoted Montesquieu: “Political virtue is a renunciation of oneself.” She also said to trust the American citizen’s judgement on whether Trump is worthy of presidency, come election time in November.
